The Importance of Immediate Feedback in Online Learning Courses

My name is Constantine and I want to welcome you to my blog about tbe importance of immediate feedback for teachers of online learning courses.

I believe that because teachers are a critical element to the student learning environment, several techniques make the difference to students.  I believe that one of the big elements in being effective as an Educational Technology Teacher is giving timely feedback.  Have you ever needed to meet an important deadline for an online course teacher? I have had to do so many times, however, from time to time I lose a critical piece of information like a password or my course notes in the plethora of files I keep in my computer. I recently lacked a small but critical piece of information, but for lack of that small piece of information, I would have been able to turn-in that assignment in a timely manner. Anyway, I began emailing several students and the instructor over the course of two nights, yet no one answered me and I failed to post on time. If anyone of the teachers I work with had sent me that important small piece of information, my stress levels would have been better managed. Putting myself in the students seat with this happening to me, I have really experienced the stress of needing an immediate answer, thus, I find the subject mentally stimulating and important enough to impart my views about it. Furthermore, I now feel that when I teach online courses, I will be compelled to monitor my email or course mail or blog often, probably 2 to 5 times a day so that my students do not become as frustrated I was until I received an answer to my email. Since I am not the only teacher that believes that answering in a timely manner is one of the most important things we can do as online teachers, I encourage you to view the YouTube video about Timely Feedback from Professor Gouran at Penn State University, who expands the idea of timely feedback. Please send your comments to my blog so that we can share our experiences. I would really enjoy reading about your experiences with timely feedback so that I might become a better teacher through other teacher ideas that might serve the online teacher community.
